About work

The project called “Use buildings’ shadows regardless of what they represent” comprises a largeformat photograph, twelve black and white graphics and one writing. As the name puts forward, the topic is a search for alternatives and one´s own ways of approaching a certain space, a town. Either we can let ourselves to be passively influenced by often dominant division of the space, or we can transform it to suit our needs in a creative way, without anyhow damaging it. One of these ways is to use the space for rest. The photograph captures such situation, where a reader lies in a shadow of a dominant building structure. The photograph is complemented by 12 prints of shadows cast by different buildings around the world. The shadows are taken from satellite images, allowing us to perceive the scale of influence of these buildings on their surroundings.
